Meet Tom Chalk
Tom Chalk has dedicated more than three decades to public service, leadership, and strengthening communities throughout California. From serving in the United States Marine Corps Reserve to leading major public safety organizations and statewide initiatives, Tom’s career has been centered on service, accountability, and helping people.
Throughout his career, Tom has held executive leadership roles in law enforcement, including Assistant Sheriff for Contra Costa County and Bureau Chief at the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST), where he helps support professional standards and training for more than 80,000 peace officers across the state.
Tom has also led complex projects, including the development of a $125 million mental health and treatment facility, taught leadership and ethics courses at the university level, and served on numerous advisory boards and regional committees.
A graduate of Sacramento State University and Chapman University, Tom combines practical experience with a strong educational background in leadership, human resources, and criminal justice.
Tom and his family are proud to call Vacaville home, and he is committed to bringing thoughtful, transparent, and experienced leadership to the City Council.
